About the Speakers:
Fr David Garcia
Fr David Garcia, OP is a Dominican Moral Theologian who obtained his licentiate from the Alphonsianum in Rome. He is a professor in Moral Theology at the Major Seminary and a lecturer with the Catholic Theological Institute of Singapore. Since coming to Singapore in 2001, he has been a much sought after and well-known speaker who has addressed a spectrum of issues affecting society ranging from marriage and family life to social justice and bioethics; he has worked with various church organisations including The Catholic Theological Institute of Singapore (CTIS), Catholic Medical Guild (CMG), Family Life Society (FLS) and Caritas Singapore.
Rev. Fr. Adrian Danker, SJ
Fr. Adrian is a priest of the Catholic Church and a member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). He joined the Jesuits in 2001 and was ordained in June 2013.
An old boy of St. Joseph’s Institution (SJI), Fr. Adrian was later appointed as its deputy principal in 2014 and is currently its principal. He holds a Ph.D. in English Literature, Masters in Philosophy and Masters in Divinity, as well as a Licentiate in Sacred Theology.
Appointed as Spiritual Director of Courage Singapore on 23 March 2017, Fr. Adrian takes time from his busy schedule to work with a group of people to build this ministry. As he ministers to our sisters and brothers, he desires that each heart be touched deeply by the Lord and that lives can be transformed.
Dr Christopher Cheok
MBBS, M MED (Psych)
Dr Christopher Cheok is a senior consultant psychiatrist. He was formerly the Vice Chairman of the Medical Board (National Addictions Management Service), Institute of Mental Health and Head of Department of Psychological Medicine, Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital. He is a member of the medical board of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. During his career with the Singapore Armed Forces, Dr Cheok has been the Commanding Officer of Medical Classification Centre, the Deputy Commander of the Military Medicine Institute and the Head of the Psychological Care Centre.
Mr Andrew Kong, BSc, LLB, JCL
Andrew has been giving presentations on St John Paul II’s Theology of the Body (TOB) in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Macau and Shanghai for the past several years.
A magna cum laude graduate of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome with a Licentiate in Canon Law, he also holds a Bachelor of Laws (UOL) and a Bachelor of Science degree (NUS). Andrew also has a certificate in the Practice & Principles in Counselling from the St Franxis Xavier Major Seminary.
Currently he is a certification student of the Theology of the Body Institute (USA), and is a qualified facilitator of “A New Language” program (on the Theology of the Body).
Since 2014 he has been appointed The Defender of the Bond (Matrimonial) for the Archdiocesan Ecclesiastical Tribunal by the Archbishop of Singapore .
Currently he works as a consultant and trainer. Prior to this he worked at the Archdiocesan Family Life Society as a presenter cum trainer in the Society’s education & training programs on sexuality and pro-life issues.
Carmen studied Linguistics and Sociology as an undergraduate. She taught English in a local school for some years, before going off to pursue a degree in Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
Since 2016, she has been conducting classes and talks on the issue of Gender and Identity.
She is currently taking a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics. In her free time, she enjoys trekking, running, rock climbing and reading.
Mr Nick Chui
Nick Chui is married to his beautiful wife Geraldine. He has an undergraduate degree in history and also a Masters in Theological Studies from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family, which is affiliated to the Pontifical Lateran University. He has over a decade of experience in the work of catechesis and evangelization and has written articles in this field, which have appeared in popular and academic publications. He is currently president of Catholic Theology Network, an association of Christ’s faithful dedicated to the intellectual formation of the laity.
Eugene and Trillion
Eugene and Trillion have been married for 21 years and have three boys aged between 15 and 20, the fruits of their love and God’s gift to them.
They are a presenting couple at MPC and use the power of story-telling to share authentically about their marriage, including their experience with NFP. They are passionate about sharing the beauty of marital intimacy with both engaged and married couples, sharing the challenges as well as the positive effect it has had on their marriage.
