About the Speakers:
Fr David Garcia, OP
Fr David Garcia, OP is a Dominican Moral Theologian who obtained his licentiate from the Alphonsianum in Rome. He is a professor in Moral Theology at the Major Seminary and a lecturer with the Catholic Theological Institute of Singapore. Since coming to Singapore in 2001, he has been a much sought after and well-known speaker who has addressed a spectrum of issues affecting society ranging from marriage and family life to social justice and bioethics; he has worked with various church organisations including The Catholic Theological Institute of Singapore (CTIS), Catholic Medical Guild (CMG), Family Life Society (FLS) and Caritas Singapore.
Mr Andrew Kong, BSc, LLB, JCL
Andrew has been giving presentations on St John Paul II’s Theology of the Body (TOB) in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Macau and Shanghai for the past several years.
A magna cum laude graduate of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome with a Licentiate in Canon Law, he also holds a Bachelor of Laws (UOL) and a Bachelor of Science degree (NUS). Andrew also has a certificate in the Practice & Principles in Counselling from the St Franxis Xavier Major Seminary.
Currently he is a certification student of the Theology of the Body Institute (USA), and is a qualified facilitator of “A New Language” program (on the Theology of the Body).
Since 2014 he has been appointed The Defender of the Bond (Matrimonial) for the Archdiocesan Ecclesiastical Tribunal by the Archbishop of Singapore .
Currently he works as a consultant and trainer. Prior to this he worked at the Archdiocesan Family Life Society as a presenter cum trainer in the Society’s education & training programs on sexuality and pro-life issues.
Mr Nick Chui
Nick Chui is married to his beautiful wife Geraldine. He has an undergraduate degree in history and also a Masters in Theological Studies from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family, which is affiliated to the Pontifical Lateran University. He has over a decade of experience in the work of catechesis and evangelization and has written articles in this field, which have appeared in popular and academic publications. He is currently president of Catholic Theology Network, an association of Christ’s faithful dedicated to the intellectual formation of the laity.
Dr John Hui
Dr John Hui graduated from the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Medicine in 1989 and is presently a family physician in private practice. He obtained his certificate as a Natural Family Planning (NFP) consultant in 2005, having completed a course in Naprotechnology at the Pope Paul VI Institute in Omaha, USA . He subsequently obtained a Graduate Diploma in Bioethics from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in Melbourne, Australia in 2011.
John is married to his devoted wife, Geraldine. Together they have been serving in Marriage Preparation Course since 2000. They have 4 children and 2 grandchildren.
He presently also serves on the board of the Archdiocesan Commission for the Family (ACF), as well as the Bioethics committee of the Catholic Medical Guild of Singapore.
